World War I (1914-18)
With the end of World War I, the ill-treatment meted out to Turkey exasperated the Indian Musalmans and anxiety was felt not only over the dismemberment of the Ottoman Empire but also over the position of the Khilafat and Muslim holy places. In these circumstances the atmosphere of the Amritsar Session of the Muslim League held in December 1919 was charged with concern and grave doubts.
